Brooklyn High Low
Brooklyn High Low
The name Brooklyn High Low refers to our take on two distinct English traditions: Low Tea and High Tea.
Low Tea emerged in the mid-1830s as a light afternoon snack to tide the upper class over until dinner, which was enjoyed at low tables arranged with light sandwiches, petit fours and elegant china. High Tea, on the other hand, was traditionally a full meal meant to replenish laborers upon their return home from their physically demanding jobs.
Brooklyn High Low pulls from both traditions to offer a classic tearoom service, Brooklyn-style, through three tea experiences. The Classic, the Vanderbilt, and The Heights tea services offer a range of savory bites, baked goods and yummy sweets created by house chef, Juan Carlos Jimenez. Our sitting room, outfitted with low tables, comfortable velvet chairs, and vintage décor, is an oasis of cozy and calm—the perfect respite from everything outside of the tearoom’s doors.
